As predicted here on The TerryReport, a deal is shaping up that would avoid default on America’s debts and get people in government back to work. Big deal. The national media are filled with “optimistic” reports. They’re talking! Progress is being made! What silliness.
Don’t applaud. It looks like, once again, the Democrats are caving into blackmail and providing a way out for the Republicans. Changes in Obamacare are being added to the mix, as well as a mechanism for reducing government spending without the meat axe approach of the sequester. The worse part of the whole plan is that it only guarantees the government will stay on the job till January (avoiding a Christmas surprise, how lovely) and the debt ceiling would be raised to last until February. Again, how wonderful. This just puts off this wasteful, stupid game until after the first of the year, once again.
President Obama said he wouldn’t grant concessions on the ACA, but now it looks that is just what the Democrats in the Senate are doing. Have these people no spine whatsoever? Sure, default is a serious issue, but it is going to be just as serious come a few months from now.
The whole deal will likely be revealed in detail on Tuesday (10.15.13), but right now, for the nation and for the Democrats, it looks like it can be summed up on two words: it stinks.
