Obituary in the NY Times

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Conjurer of Literary Magic, Dies at 87

Take a few minutes to read Marquez, as translated in the NY Times in 1981, on Hemingway. It is a brilliant piece of writing and a deeply felt tribute to another writer who inspired this now departed master.

My personal favorite quote from the Marquez quote in the Times:

“...it is not true that journalism finishes off a writer, as has so often been said - rather, just the opposite, so long as one leaves it behind soon enough.
